ABC/Image Group LAAfter seven years with Jennifer Nettles at the helm, CMA Country Christmas is getting a new host. This year, Reba McEntire steps in for her pal and label mate on the annual ABC special.

“It’s gonna be hard filling Jennifer’s shoes,” the Country-Music-Hall-of-Famer says graciously, “but I’m gonna work real hard and make her proud!”

Reba’s been a guest on the CMA yuletide celebration in years past, and she certainly is no stranger to a hosting gig, having led the ACM Awards for more than ten years. When it comes to this year’s CMA Country Christmas, Reba says you shouldn’t expect any big changes.

“I’ve been on it before, and it’s a great show,” she tells ABC Radio. “It’s beautiful, lively, touching, heartfelt, and that’s what we want to continue is that same tradition of getting everybody’s feelings started. Because it is, it is kicking off, jump-starting the Christmas season and getting everybody in the spirit.”

While Jennifer may have shown off some fancy footwork while hosting the show, Reba warns you shouldn’t expect that from her.

“Singing, yes! Dancing, no,” she laughs. “The choreographer can take a break.”

CMA Country Christmas will be recorded at the Grand Ole Opry House on November 14, and air on ABC on November 27 at 8 p.m. ET.

The re-release of Reba’s My Kind of Christmas album comes out October 13. It adds guest appearances by Darius RuckerVince GillAmy GrantKelly Clarkson and Trisha Yearwood to the version available exclusively at Cracker Barrel last year.
