The challenge many teachers have today is how to motivate their students to want to learn. Teachers are trying many different kinds of methods to achieve this.
Preschool Teacher at Washington School in Dixon, Heleanna Babin likes to make learning as fun as possible. But, she takes her style a bit further. Babin likes to get the parents involved by having Science Education Days in the Classroom times.
Babin makes it fun for everyone, centers the education around what they are studying and encourages they continue the fun at home.
To help Babin in the classroom she recently was the recipient of a Score Grant from the Illinois Education Association. The grant has gone towards the Science Education Days in the Classroom she has had.
Babin uses the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, or STEM approach where she lets the parents know how kids can learn these areas while at play.
She says when kids play with such things as LEGO’s they can learn about Technology or Engineering. This will help the parents to continue the learning at home.
