If you have been to the Dixon Riverfront Park lately you may not have realized that much of the lower level a couple of weeks ago was underwater.

John Groshans who maintains the riverfront and other parts of downtown said he has seen flooding before, but this was the worst he had ever seen.

Groshans said the riverfront not only had branches and debris, but whole trees were washed down and slammed up against the riverfront.

Groshans said he had the best help and cooperation from many of the city departments that helped with the clean up.

Groshans said the fire department brought in a truck with one of their water hoses to help clean off the debris and mud from the Riverfront Park. Several helpers from city departments pitched in too. Groshans said they still are dealing with the damage that washed part of the riverfront away and battered some other sections.

The Riverfront Park was ready and looking good for the Rockin on the River Front last weekend. He said he is still not finished cleaning up and getting things ready for Venetian Night this weekend.
