Dixon Names Streets on This Years List for Repair as well as Other Projects

road-work-sign-jpg-2

People always complain about the streets in Dixon and the need for them to be repaired.  Well, there is a chance your street or one near you might be on the list for repaving and repairs this year.  If you live on Washington, or Beach Drive, Custer Street or East Fourth Street, you may get a nice new road by the end of the summer.

Dixon Mayor Glen Hughes spoke of the $1.4 million the city is putting into the annual street repair project.  Part of the projects includes not just roads.  Hughes said they also approved sidewalks.

A new sidewalk would be built on Lowell Park Road from Canterbury Apartments to RP Lumber.  Hughes said that has simply gotten too dangerous for pedestrians to walk there.

Some other work includes brickwork at some of the downtown crosswalks.  Hughes said they are getting rough.

Another project added to this year are alleys.  Hughes said Alleys do not get the same amount of traffic as streets so they can be neglected.  The city is adding 7 west side alleys.
