Does your High School student know how to balance a checkbook, how to write a check or simply how to manage money. Many times these simple things can be a challenge and an eye opener when they get out of school and they are on their own.
Director Karla Belzar of the University of Illinois County Extension spoke to the Lee County Board. One of the topics was called the Welcome to the Real World Simulation. They first tried it at the AFC District and it turned out to be very successful.
Belzar called the simulation adulting 101. Through the program, the students learned how to write a check, handle money and manage finances. They also learned career skills to help them in the real world.
