During the recent Dixon City Council meeting, Mayor Glen Hughes stated that he and Public Works Director Matt Heckman has been in discussions with ComEd and others. The reason for the talks have been centered on getting Electric Vehicle Charging Stations.
They pointed out that if they are successful, they are looking at two locations. One being the Library Parking Lot and the other, the Old Chamber of Commerce Building, as the mayor referred to it. However, one of the sites may not meet ADA requirements.
Hughes said ComEd had recently received a grant to help communities get EV Stations. ComEd would install the stations; the city would be responsible for the maintenance. Hughes feels any revenue the city gets from the stations would offset this.
