Rock Falls Police Chief David Pilgrim said recently there is light at the end of the tunnel. What he was referring to is getting the department back to full strength.
He said the department would soon have a new officer who was with another agency. This officer has been through academy and has some experience under his belt. Pilgrim also announce that in September, the Rock Falls PD would be sending three to the Police Academy at Sauk Valley Community College.
The Chief said it is so good having the academy here in the Sauk Valley. With the Academy hiring so many local officers and deputies, they can teach to cadets how the local police departments do things. Pilgrim said this is better than just giving them a general training.
Pilgrim said with the Rock Falls Police Department being so shorthanded it has meant extra shifts, over time and burnout of the police staff.
