It seems you cannot turn around anymore without an election coming up soon. In 2026, it will be the off year election in Illinois. There have already been several announcements concerning statewide elections.
The Lee County Clerk and Recorder Nancy Petersen said recently her office is beginning to get ready for 2026. She said there are several County Board seats up for election. She is posting a list of what seats are available.
If you are running, the day you could begin to pull petitions is August 5. The filing dates are October 27 thru November 3.
County Administrator Jeremy England said this is local government. If you wish to make an impact and a difference locally, this is the time for you to do it.
