Lee County Financial Committee has begun the process to create the new County Budget.
It was announced that the county has gotten another hit to its bottom line. County Finance Chair Jim Schielein told the board members that the health insurance rates for county employees will be increasing by 13%.
County Administrator Jeremy England said he has met with officials from other counties. He stated that Lee County is not alone. The increase is across the board.
Schielein said the 13% increase was part of the $1.5 million deficit the county would be working to eliminate. He called it a hit on the bottom line and another challenge for the county to overcome.
