
The Rock Falls City Council met in session Tuesday night and had an agenda filled with requests, ordinances, and resolutions. The council first approved a resolution authorizing a joint funding agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation concerning the East 11th Street Bridge in the amount of $455,500 dollars. City Administrator Robin Blackert went to a recent awards ceremony held in Chicago to accept the U.S. EPA Region 5 award for outstanding contributions in the Brownfield Redevelopment. It was a proud moment for Blackert and Rock Falls. “We are very proud to be recognized by the EPA for our contributions in the Brownfield Redevelopment,” she said.
In other news, a couple of ordinances up for second reading and adoption authorized Mayor Rod Kleckler to execute a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Rock Falls, Whiteside County Sheriff, and the County of Whiteside for the funding and Provision on non-emergency and emergency 911 services for a single dispatch center. The other, authorizing variance from sign regulations regarding Loves Truck Stop. One request from the Utility Committee was to recommend and approve the quote from Viking Industrial Painting in the amount of $93,500 dollars for painting the water tower on East 11th Street.
