More changes are happening at the Dixon Police Department.
Deputy Police Chief Matt Richards has retired after serving for 27-years. Police Chief Ryan Bivins announced his choice to be the new Deputy Police Chief. Bivins has promoted Detective Aaron Simonton to the position of Deputy Chief.
Bivins said they have a tight knit group at the department. He also laid out his vision for the force. Part of this is the hiring of 3-4 more officers. After that, they could begin to put the vision into reality.
Bivins said Simonton would be overlooking all of the investigations as well as the civilian staff. The Chief said Simonton would be very busy.
To replace Simonton as Detective Sergeant, Officer Ed Deets has been promoted to the rank. In January, Deputy Chief Doug Lehman will be retiring and another Deputy Chief will be promoted.
