Following an Investigation Into Theft and Narcotics, Lee County Deputies Arrest a Franklin Grove Man

On Tuesday, August 19, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant at 1584 Route 38 in rural Franklin Grove as part of a theft and narcotics investigation.

Before the search warrant, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle that left the residence just prior to deputies executing the search warrant. As a result of the stop, 36-year-old John MB Malovich of that address was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine).

After a search of the premises, a stolen Cub Cadet Zero Turn lawn mower was located along with several firearms. Malovich has a previous conviction for Domestic Battery, and he was additionally charged with the following:

Three Counts of Possession of a Firearm w/o Requisite FOID Card

Theft (Greater than $500.00, but Less than $10,000.00)

In accordance with the Illinois SAFE-T Act, John Malovich was released from custody with pretrial provisions
