It is not uncommon to see on Dixon Streets the small-motorized bikes or mini-bikes zooming down the street or on the sidewalks. The bikes can be noisy as well as a problem for drivers and walkers.
During the most recent Dixon City Council meeting, the members spoke of concerns they have with the vehicles. City Manager Dan Langloss said they plan to see if they could construct a legal ordinance to deal with them. He called the motorized bikes obnoxious.
Councilman Mike Venier stated he has received concerns from members of the community about the vehicles. He too said he felt the vehicles were unsafe.
He spoke of being a motorcyclist and all of the safety precautions he has to obey. However, Venier pointed out these bikes do not have to have lights, turn signals or other features all other vehicles are required.
