The Dixon School Board met in session Wednesday night and briefly talked about a few items that needed to be amended in the upcoming budget. There were many items that needed approval for the upcoming school year including the contract extension with Illinois Central School Bus, LLC, and the resolution for hazardous crossing.
Doug Stanford explained that during the summer break it’s a good time to tend to housekeeping matters.
Stanford went on to say another important item that is vital to teachers and parents is the student handbook that needs to be in place by the start of the school ter. The handbook is modeled after the Illinois Principal Association book. Parents are required to sign off on this when the children return.
In other news, board members will be attending a retreat on July 21 at the Nachusa Grasslands to get outside of the board office, enjoy the day and talk about improvements, where they are going academically, and setting the framework for a ten-year plan.
