You ask what is Rock Falls River Chase? It is stock-outboard boat racing. This unique event was back in the early 80s through the late 90s. The event made its return in 2014 after a local fan wondered what happened to the races he used to watch as a kid.
The ages of racers range from 9 years old to racers in their 70s or older. Boat racers compete in several different classes of race boats ranging in speeds from around 35 mph to 80 mph +.
Due to the unfortunate low boat count for the Junior Hydroplane North American Championship at the “Thunder On The Vermilion” race in Danville, Illinois, the 2025 Junior Hydroplane North American Championship will now be held at the “Rock Falls River Chase” race in Rock Falls, Illinois, July 12-13, 2025.
