The Ogle County Coroner has positively identified the pilot as Alexander Leamon, age 23 of Lena, IL.
At approximately 9:36 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, the Ogle County Sheriff’s 911 Center received a report of a plane crash near 2810 W. Illinois Route 64, Mount Morris.
Responding deputies and emergency personnel arrived on scene and discovered a crop dusting aircraft fully engulfed in flames on the north side of the roadway. Fire crews from the Mount Morris Fire Protection District responded and quickly extinguished the fire. The pilot—the sole occupant of the aircraft—was located deceased within the wreckage shortly after the fire was brought under control.
