Next July 4 is a special time in the country. It will be the 250th birthday of the country. In Illinois, the state has a committee working to celebrate the occasion.
During the most recent Dixon City Council meeting, Councilman Chris Bishop pushed for the acceptance of a resolution. The resolution was a show of support for the Illinois America 250 Commemoration. Bishop said by partnering with the state, we would have access to any resources the state has.
This would also mean that any event or activity the city may have, the state would put it on their website. This would be another way to get the news out to the entire state.
Bishop said he hopes this would draw more people to Dixon during that time. Bishop has been spearheading the effort for the 250 Celebration in Dixon. Part of his suggestion has also included the new pedestrian bridge being built.
