Two Teens Arrested for Possession of a Stolen Car Following a Police Chase

On Tuesday, August 12, Ogle County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle in the 2500 block of South Illinois Route 251.

During the stop, the vehicle fled from Deputies southbound on Route 251. After a short pursuit, the vehicle crashed in a field near the intersection of Route 251 and East Twombly Road.

The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old juvenile male of Dekalb, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated fleeing to elude with property damage over $300.00, driving on a suspended license, fleeing to elude, speeding 35+mph over posted speed limit, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

The passenger of the vehicle, a 16-year-old juvenile male of Dekalb, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. Both juveniles were transported to Rochelle Community Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

The passenger was released to a parent and the driver was transported to Kane County Juvenile Detention Facility, pending a court appearance. Rochelle PD and Rochelle fire assisted deputies.
